The New Status of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Amar Bharat LAW CRITIQUE Tue, Aug 06, 2019, at ,03:52 PM The status of Azad Kashmir is into question again, after Article 370 of the Constitution of India, was scrapped by Indian Government on 5th Aug, 2019. Azad Kashmir, is originally a part of Jammu & Kashmir State of India which Pakistan had invaded in 1947, and thus, arbitrarily ranked chief of POK as President while Prime Minister as Chief Executive Officer supported by Council of MInister. The interesting fact is that since Azad Kashmir claims its self-governing assembly, which has nothing to do with Pakistan, as to what they represent in UN, now that Jammu & Kashmir has become a part of Indian Territory without any condition as has been imposed by Article 370, Is Azad Kashmir be the part of India too? Fearing the reclaiming of its territory by Indian Government, Masood Khan, President of Azad Kashmir, is looking for the help from Hizbul Mujahideen,a pro-Pakistani militant organisation active in the region, seeks for the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan as an Islamic state. After US State Department has approved a $125 million support program for Pakistan’s fleet of F-16 warplanes, the same F-16 which Pakistan used against India, the decision of US was highly disappreciated by Indian Government. The move of scraping down the special status of J & K and taking it into direct administration by Central Government, is a signal to Pakistan and US, that India may soon reclaim its lost territory which is now known as Azad Kashmir or POK.
