He is the first from Thackrey's family to hold the post of Maharashtra Chief Minister. Uddhav assumed the top post at a grand ceremony at Shivaji Park, a location redolent with symbolism for Sena. It was here that the party held its first rally and where its first CM was sworn in over two decades ago; Bal Thackeray was also cremated on this very ground. Eknath Shinde, Subhash Desai (Shiv Sena), Jayant Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal (Nationalist Congress Party), Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut (Congress) took oath as ministers. The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance called Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi also released its Common Minimum Program (CMP). Farmers who were a matter of discussion in most of the meetings during this political thriller came to play a central role in the Common Minimum Program. The CMP promises immediate waivers on their loans. Jobs for youth, subsidized healthcare, and food were among other promises. During a press meet, Uddhav Thackeray said that he wants to ensure that the money reaches the farmers, not just announcements. “I want to assure the people of the state that we will give a good government. He further added that “I am happy to tell you all that the first decision that this cabinet has taken is to approve Rs 20 crores for the development of Raigad which was the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” Who Is Uddhav Thackeray? Uddhav Thackeray, born on 27th July 1960, is the son of Bal Thackeray. Uddhav Thackeray is married to Rashmi Thackeray and has two sons, Aditya and Tejas. In 2002 he started his political career as a campaign in charge of Shiv Sena in Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections where party performed well. In 2003 he was appointed as working president of Shiv Sena. Uddhav took over as chief editor of party mouthpiece Saamna (a daily Marathi newspaper) in 2006. After the demise of his father Bal Thackeray in 2012, he led the party and got elected as Shiv Sena president in 2013, under his leadership Shivsena joined the NDA government in Maharashtra in 2014. Thackeray is also a photography enthusiast and has exhibited his collection of aerial shots of various forts of Maharashtra at the Jehangir Art Gallery in 2004.
