Arbitration has emerged as the preferred mode of dispute resolution in commercial, infrastructure, corporate, and cross-border disputes. However, despite the growing importance of arbitration, many law students and young practitioners lack hands-on exposure to arbitration drafting, procedural strategy, and post-award enforcement.

Most lawyers understand the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 theoretically but struggle when it comes to drafting arbitration clauses, notices of arbitration, statements of claim, defence, Section 34 petitions, and enforcement applications.

Arbitration practice is drafting-intensive and strategy-driven. A weak arbitration clause can render the entire process ineffective; procedural lapses can delay proceedings; and poor drafting at the award stage can jeopardise enforcement.

She is a disputes and arbitration lawyer with about 10 years of experience in international and domestic commercial arbitration, particularly in construction and engineering disputes. She is experienced in handling high-stakes and complex disputes across diverse sectors including renewable and non-renewable energy, railways, roads and highways, and large-scale construction projects. She regularly represents clients in multi-jurisdictional arbitrations (administered by international arbitral institutions such as SIAC, LCIA, ICC as also ad-hoc arbitrations).
