Ex IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur and other sent to judicial custody by Lucknow court for allegedly abetting women suicide Admin Sat, Aug 28, 2021, at ,04:23 PM Retired IPS officer Amitabh Thakur was arrested by the Lucknow police after a rape survivor and her associate accused him and BSP MP Atul Rai, among others, of harassing them before the two tried to immolate themselves outside the Supreme Court. The FIR against Thakur also contains charges under Sections 167 (public servant framing an incorrect document with intent to cause injury), 195-A (threatening any person to false evidence), 218 (public servant framing incorrect record, etc), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.a Lucknow Court sent him to Judicial Custody till September 9. The 24-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped by Bahujan Samaj Party MP Atul Rai in 2019, succumbed to burn injuries on August 24. Her male friend, a 27-year-old Delhi University graduate, had died during treatment last week.
