About the National Human Rights Commission
According to Section 12 (h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, the National Human Rights Commission is tasked with enhancing Human Rights literacy and awareness. To educate University students on the importance of safeguarding and advancing Human Rights, the Commission has been organizing internship programs consistently since 1998.
About the Legal Internship Opportunity at National Human Rights Commission
An "Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – August 2025" is scheduled for August 2025, running from the 11th to the 22nd. Eligible students from across the country are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
Students in their 3rd year or beyond of any integrated 5-year postgraduate program;
Students in the 3rd or final year of an undergraduate course;
Students enrolled in any semester or year of a postgraduate degree program (including those in a three-year LL.B program);
Students in any semester or year of a postgraduate diploma program;
Research scholars in any discipline.
Responsibilities
Engagement with the Hon’ble Chairperson, NHRC Members, and other experts in the field, including senior officials from the Government of India.
Collaborative project work on human rights issues.
Review of books.
Films addressing human rights topics such as child and bonded labor, anti-trafficking, health including mental health, and education issues.
Virtual visits to jails, police stations, and NGO/shelter homes. During these virtual visits, interns observe the operations of these institutions and have the opportunity to get their questions answered.
