Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla was founded by the State Government in 2016 through a legislative act (Act 16 of 2016). The University commenced its operations on October 5, 2016.
About the Opportunity
Applications are invited online from interested and qualified candidates for the recruitment of Registrar (on a tenure basis), Assistant Registrar (on a regular basis), and Research Associate in Law (purely contractual with a consolidated salary).

General Details
Applicants for the specified positions must complete the designated application form and upload it via the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) Form.
The eligibility of all candidates regarding Essential Qualifications and Experience, if applicable, will be assessed based on the designated closing date for submitting the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) Form.
It is recommended that candidates note their USER ID and PASSWORD, as these will be needed for all future references concerning the examination/tests, downloading roll numbers/call letters, entering fee details, etc. No additional assistance will be provided for these matters.
Candidates should provide a current mobile number and email ID in the online recruitment (ORA) application and ensure they remain active until the selection process is complete to avoid any inconvenience. Communication will only be through email and mobile numbers.
Candidates must accurately complete their particulars in the OA forms to prevent rejection. Providing false information may result in disqualification from participating in any recruitment advertised by the University for three years.
The printed copy of the application form and all other documents should be sent to the Office of Registrar, HPNLU, Shimla, Sixteen Miles, Ghandal, Shimla-Mandi Highway, Shimla – 171014.
Fees must be paid online via the ‘payment gateway’ available on the University's recruitment portal; no other payment methods are accepted.
The number of positions is tentative and may change. The number of vacancies and reservation of posts can be modified without prior notice.
Candidates should regularly check the website for updates regarding their roll numbers, admit cards, evaluation schedules, etc.
The University retains the right to amend any terms of the advertisement or correct any inadvertent errors at any stage.
For all positions, eligibility, appointment, and service terms and conditions will be governed by the University's relevant rules.
Applicants must upload an experience certificate, when required, from the appropriate institution/authority, clearly stating the duration of service, pay scale, and gross salary drawn.

In case of any disputes, legal actions against the University will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts in H.P. at the Hon’ble High Court of Himachal Pradesh and District Courts at Shimla only.

Eligibility
Registrar (On Tenure Basis)
The Registrar must be an academic in law, holding a position no lower than Professor.
The appointment term for the Registrar is five years or until reaching the age of sixty-two, whichever comes first.
Experience in university administration is preferred.
Assistant Registrar (Regular Basis)
A strong academic record with a Master's degree, achieving at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade of B on the UGC seven-point scale.
Five years of experience as a Section Officer, Superintendent Grade II, Personal Assistant, or a similar role in a Central/State University, Government Department, or Educational/Research Institution. Or
Three years of teaching experience at a UGC-recognized University, College, or Institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Familiarity with the customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh. M.Tech, M.Phil./Ph.D./M.B.A. in any Technical Education discipline is preferred.
Research Associate of Law (purely Contractual basis on Consolidated Salary)
In accordance with UGC Regulations 2018 and HPNLU, Executive and Service Regulations 2020 for the Assistant Professor of Law position.
The term for appointed candidates will conclude on 31st December 2025.
Application Process
To submit the application, register at the ERP Portal of HPNLU, Shimla (https://erphpnlu.in) within the specified time frame. The University will not accept any offline Application Forms.
Candidates should carefully read the instructions for filling out the OA available on the University's website. Interested candidates must complete the Application Form in the designated format.
The completed application form, along with the required certificates/documents and the application fee, should be submitted to the Office of Registrar, HPNLU, Shimla, Sixteen Miles, Ghandal, Shimla-Mandi Highway, Shimla – 171014.
Bring the downloaded copy of the online application form, along with necessary original certificates and self-attested photocopies, at the time of the interview.
Important Date
The deadline for submitting the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) Form is 10 August 2025.
The final date for receiving the hard copies of the application form, along with all required supporting documents and certificates, is 20 August 2025. The University will not be liable for any postal delays.
