About CTIL

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) is a leading think tank founded by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and located at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi.

CTIL aims to enhance India’s expertise in international trade and investment law by offering legal analysis and policy support to government bodies on WTO law, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), bilateral investment treaties, and dispute resolution issues.


About the Internship

The CTIL Internship Programme provides law students with the chance to gain hands-on experience in international trade and investment law.

Interns engage in legal and policy research related to WTO agreements, trade negotiations, arbitration and investment disputes, digital trade, and sustainability clauses in international agreements.

Interns may also assist in:

  • Drafting legal memos and research notes

  • Preparing case studies and analytical reports

  • Conducting research on trade policy and dispute resolution

  • Supporting stakeholder consultations and discussions

The internship is perfect for students interested in pursuing careers in international law, trade law, arbitration, and policy research.


Eligibility

  • Students enrolled in LL.B. or LL.M. programs.

  • Preference may be given to those specializing in:

    • International Trade Law

    • WTO Law

    • International Investment Law

    • Commercial Arbitration


Mode of Internship

On-site internship focusing on research and drafting related to arbitration and investment disputes.


Location

New Delhi.


Duration

1 to 3 months.


Stipend

Interns may receive a stipend of up to Rs. 2,000, subject to variation based on the internship cycle and performance.
