About the Directorate of Enforcement

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) operates as a law enforcement and economic intelligence agency under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, GOI. 

It is tasked with enforcing significant economic laws, such as the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) and the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA). Its headquarters is located at A-Block, Pravartan Bhavan, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi – 110011.


About the Position

UPSC is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Legal Advisor (Vacancy No. 26060645213) in the Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

This is a permanent position, categorized as General Central Service Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial, with a one-year probation period. Headquarters: Directorate of Enforcement, New Delhi, with All India Service Liability.


Vacancies & Reservation

Total Vacancies: 12 (UR-06, EWS-01, OBC-03, SC-1, ST-01). One vacancy is reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD).


Pay Scale

Level-11 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.


Age Limit

40 years for UR/EWS; 43 for OBC; 45 years for SC/ST. Age is further relaxable up to 10 years for PwBD candidates.


Essential Qualifications

Degree in law from a recognised university or institute;  And Three years of experience as an advocate at the bar, dealing with criminal laws or fiscal laws

OR

Master’s degree in law from a recognised university or institute and one year of experience as an advocate at the bar dealing with criminal laws or fiscal laws. 


Duties

  • To provide advice on all matters referred by various ministries/departments of the Government of India. 

  • To manage government litigation work. 

  • To represent the Central Government in courts as needed and 

  • To handle administrative and other tasks as assigned.
