ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Parul International Mediation Competition (PIMC) 2025 is a flagship event hosted by the Parul Institute of Law, Parul University, aimed at fostering a deep understanding of mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). This two-day competition, scheduled from March 1 to March 2, 2025, integrates competitive mediation event to provide a comprehensive experience for participants. The competition serves as a confluence for legal practitioners, academicians, students, and ADR enthusiasts from across the globe. With meticulously curated sessions and expertly designed mediation prompts, the event strives to equip participants with cutting-edge negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Through this initiative, Parul University reinforces its commitment to advancing ADR practices and nurturing a culture of peaceful conflict resolution. The Competition is designed to not only educate but also inspire innovation and collaboration among participants. WHO ALL CAN PARTICIPATE?

The Competition is open to all Law Colleges / Law Schools and Faculties / Universities; Departments of Law in India as well as for the Foreign National Law colleges/universities. Students doing post-graduation in law and students undergoing correspondence courses are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

• Cross-Institute Teams shall not be eligible to participate in this Competition.

• Only One team can participate from each participating institute shall be registered for the competition

International Colleges Team:$ 25

REGISTRATION FEES & PAYMENT GATEWAY Fee For Accommodation: INR 3000/- per team.


THE RELEASE OF MEDIATION PROBLEM

• The Mediation Problem will contain the General Problem-at-hand, privy to all the Participants, whereas the Confidential Information Exhibits or C.I.E. will contain Specially Drafted Factual & Confidential Information pertaining to each side (Requesting and Responding).

• The Confidential Information Exhibit (C.I.E.) for a Round shall be released i.e., revealed to the respective Negotiating Pair only (and not the Mediating Pair), exactly 1 hour before their respective rounds in the rooms allotted for the same - C.I.E.R.S. (Confidential Information Exhibit Reading Station)

• There shall be a different Mediation Problem for each Round of Mediation i.e. separate problems in the Prelims I & Prelims II (Same problem on International Contract Law), Quarter-Finals (Sports Law), Semi-Finals (Maritime Law) & The Final Round (Cross Border Dispute), and 2 different Confidential Information Exhibits (C.I.E.) each, for the Requesting and Responding Side respectively. Therefore there shall be 4 Mediation Problems and 10 C.I.E.s. All the 5 Mediation.

• Problems will be released collectively on or before February 06, 2025 so that the Participants can get acquainted with the Problems well in advance, and form their arguments and contentions accordingly, in the adequate time-frame before the Competition.


AWARDS & ACCOLADES

• Best Negotiation Pair: INR 1,11,000 /- + Certificate of Merit

• Best Mediator: INR 51,000 /- + Certificate of Merit

• Runner-up Negotiating Pair: INR 61,000 /- + Certificate of Merit

• Runner-up Mediator: INR 30,000 /- + Certificate of Merit

• 2nd Runner up Negotiating Pair: Rs 30,000 /- + Certificate of Merit

• 2nd Runner-up mediator: Rs 15,000 /- + Certificate of Merit All the participants will get participation certificate.
